Seeded to etree by Willie...well that brought back a flood of memories. RIP Willie. And Tom Greenleaf too. Heady times in '81. I ended up off-grid in Mendocino
...
and that probably saved me from the parties that grew harder. This was a great little run starting in Salt Lake. Portland is the one I remember not at all! They tell me I was there and I believe them. Sandwiched in between epic shows in Seattle and Eugene. What a beautiful scene it was. Thanks, everybody! Grateful forever- not fade away

I have to say that I think this show is very good. The first set is just pulsing with energy. The second set becomes a bit more human but, on balance is
...
very good, and has passages of excellence.
...my $.02.....

However, I must have sounded pretty foolish, to those who read this before I added this first part. That is, that as the text file says, this recording
...
is awfully distorted. It would seem probably from over recording. Yet that is strange, because the earlier show in Seattle, wasn't over recorded at least not nearly as much as this, but there are other possible contributoring factors. The Idon't want to waste too much on trying to rationalize my statement below that Mark made good recordings, which I stand by. I've been missing this show for a very long time since it was stolen as I mentioned originally below so I was looking forward to hearing this again, but I don't recall his other recording I mention below, being any where near this bad. I'm not saying the Seattle tape is the best audience I've heard, just that it was resonable given the hall etc. So I took a leep of faith, in hopes that it would be as the original text file says, only the beginning is distorted; and later comparable to my recollection of his other recordings. Yet, now I return to unfortunately concede that this is under par, to say the least. What follows is what I originally wrote.
Mark Severson made great recordings. Most likely the recordings of Seattle (were he is from, wether he still lives there ?), and Eugene are his as well. I had first gens. from him of all these, but this one has been stolen; the rest are in storage, so it's been a while so specifics a less tangable. Even so, I still can asure you that the overall quality is reasonable given the acoustics of Portland's Coliseum. Moreover, he made great recordings of the Greek this year but not the only ones.
I mostly remember getting carried out so that my feet couldn't reach the ground for dancing during Sugar Magnolia. Outside I saw a close friend from Redondo Beach Ca. were I used to live (although I was in college in Santa Barbara at the time); and we managed to sneak back in before the encore started.
I'll write more specifics about the show later.
